Darrin Davies

Executive Trainer

Darrin Davies joined the media aged 19 after being trained in presentation and media skills by one of Australia’s most respected broadcasters of the era.

Several years in radio and television followed as he mastered live radio and live television broadcasting, before a switch to journalism. Writing, producing and reading news for Alan Jones and John Laws, he quickly rose through the ranks and after two years was running breakfast and morning news for Brisbane’s new talk station. After four years, Darrin was working in every role in newsrooms, including line-up producer, news editor and presenter.

A decade in television, predominantly with the Seven Network, ended with Darrin obtaining his first Masters Degree and venturing into corporate communication and crisis management.

Darrin has now worked in corporate affairs, media management and crisis communication for two decades with stints in politics, sport and religion – the three favourite dinner-party topics. Having managed public reputation for some of Australia’s most significant organisations, Darrin’s skills are in regular demand working with varied stakeholders and their strategic outcomes.

Media training has always been part of the brief with hundreds of ambulance officers and other emergency service personnel trained, along with doctors, corporate executives, politicians and sportspeople.

Still in demand for media and acting work, Darrin has recently worked with the Seven Network and Sky News and maintains valuable contacts throughout Australia’s media landscape.

Darrin goes beyond how to present and work with cameras and media, to understanding the intent of the organisation, capturing the issue/event and strategising to achieve the best possible outcomes. These skills make him a valued member of the Communication & Media Manoeuvres team.
