Preparation that doesn’t stop at studying the briefing pack.
Most inquiry and hearing preparation sessions consist of the witness navigating their brief and rehearsing their answers to the most obvious questions. This can help to settle nerves before the appearance, but it leaves the witness and their organisation vulnerable to unexpected avenues of enquiry.
Instead, we take a strategic approach. For Senate estimates hearings, we examine the senators who are likely to attend your hearing. Their motivations, focus issues, and previous questions. For a Royal Commission or regulatory inquiry, we assess the terms of reference, previous hearing blocks, and the angles likely to be pursued by counsel assisting.
We collate media coverage of all potential issues. Then we build witness capability to calmly handle any line of questioning, regardless of the driving force behind it.
Our programs use real parliamentary and journalist experience, real topics, and real-time feedback. Witnesses learn how to remain composed despite hostile questioning, deliver their information without defensiveness, and seek clarification.
The result is not simply a shorter hearing or fewer questions taken on notice. It is a framework that strengthens every future appearance at a formal hearing or inquiry.
